We are pleased to invite you to the conference
“Should we get rid of Flexicurity:
The conditions for an economically and socially responsible compromise”
15 January 2008
Brussels (The International Auditorium)
which will bring to a close the “Flexicurity” project coordinated by LENTIC within the framework of Article 6 of the ESF (www.flexicurity.org).
The term Flexicurity has now become part of everyday language. While it stimulates the enthusiasm of a certain number of players, it also generates a great deal of controversy, primarily related to the opportunity to reshape the labour markets according to this “model” and to its transferability.
We intend to contribute to this debate by favouring a pragmatic approach, focused on the analysis of effective practices implemented at corporate and regional levels (jobpools, wage portage, skill pooling, HR platforms, etc.).
This process of participative reflection has revealed a certain number of conditions for the success of practices aiming at reconciling flexibility and security and highlighted some concrete guidelines available to any stakeholder of the labour market wishing to get involved in such a dynamic.
This collective work has resulted in a pedagogical DVD destined to all concerned parties. This tool offers various means of guiding and supporting the implementation of new flexicurity arrangements, within a balanced perspective that is economically and socially responsible.
During the conference on the 15th of January 2008, we will be pleased to present this tool to you, together with the different results of the project.
The day as a whole will be organised in an interactive fashion, with presentation of some video examples from the DVD, debates and contributions from comedians (PROGRAM PDF).
The conference will also offer a chance for the labour market practitioners and academics to express their viewpoint on the relevance of the approach taken in creating these tools.
