Welcome to the website of the European “Flexicurity” project, coordinated by the LENTIC (HEC-Management School of the University of Liege).

The aim of this project is to test innovative practices in terms of compromises between flexibility and security inspired by the Flexicurity concept. This concept, which has in particular guided the labour market reforms in the Netherlands and Denmark, is designed to reconcile the flexibility and security requirements expressed by companies and individuals.

The project fits in with the procedures and initiatives for industrial reconversion instigated by two traditionally industrial regions, the Liege region in Belgium, and Lille in France.  It aims to support professional reconversion in new activity sectors, often highly demanding in terms of greater work flexibility, by conceiving and implementing new forms of securitisation connected with income, status, skills and career paths.

The project is based on both:

  • a transnational partnership formed by 3 research centres (IAE – University of Lille 1, LENTIC-University of Liege and OSA, University of Tilburg) and two trade union foundations (FAR – FGTB Liege and EMERGENCES – CGT),
  • and two regional partnerships which bring together, in the Liege and Lille regions, companies, social partners, local councils, public training and employment bodies, etc.
